Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/07/2009

Number: 1

Here in Raleigh it cleared around 11:30, and as I was in a meeting at the NC Museum of Natural Science's education center (open-air with screens) at Prairie Ridge, from 8:30 to 4:30, we witnessed Monarchs sailing and fighting the wind to the SW all day. I guess we must have seen 100 at a minimum. Certainly, it was nothing as compared with some flights in the mountains, but it was quite a parade, mostly in the afternoon.
