Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/16/2009

Number: 1

...don't know if it's the same 4 birds, or if they only chase one at a time, but four females can be seen at any one time chasing each other off the freshly filled feeders.
(I have to tell this...a relation put her feeder up on September 10 and took it down Sept 15 because she wanted to feed the hummers coming through headed for Rockport, Texas. By Sept 15, all hummers should be in Rockport, she said, she hadn't seen any so they were there for the festival - they have a festival for them and "that's where they all should be on that date." She has a hard time believing that we are still brewing new nectar every few days for our hummers because they should have left for Rockport a month ago. When we told her of sightings in northern states, she opined that that was just wrong, it was too cold and they couldn't get any food. I'd be LOL, if it weren't so sad.)
Go hummers. SOrry...didn't mean to take up too much time.
