We found two Chrysalis on September 19, 2009 - 3 weeks later, they had not developed - we took them inside and they soon opened; one a male and the other a female. We placed them on the flower of a tuberous Begonia. We had a series of very cloudy, cool days and they did not leave the flower, only occasionally flexing their wings. On October 18, the sun came out early in the morning and predictions were for a sunny day in the mid 60's. We set the flower in our back yard where the sun was shining directly on the two monarchs. When we returned home from church about 12:00 the Monarchs were gone - hopefully, on their way to Mexico
