Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/18/2009

Number: 1

Started the day with a male Ruby Throated feeding. Then later saw a female. Not much activity but about 5:00 this evening I saw a hummer feed for a long time and then it flew to the end of a limb on my Japanese Maple tree. It sat there for a long time. I noticed something different about it and observed it with my binoculars from several angles and then eased outside. It was a male Black Chinned. Think they are rare in this part of the country.
