Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/18/2009

Number: 1

In the low mountains about 25km east of the town of El Salvador (eastern tip of Zacatecas state)there is a steady flow of Monarch butterflies heading south. Approximately 5-10 per minute all day Oct 18th & 19th were casually observed passing within 100 feet me. These are the only two days I have been in the field during the month so I don't know how long they have been passing nor how wide the migratory corridor. I will report again during the next couple of days with more observations although I am not an entomologist.
My observation time: I was watching for ___ hours and ___ minutes.

El Salvador, ZAC

Latitude: 24.5 Longitude: -100.9
