Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/15/2009

Number: 1

I had a female ruby-throated hummer here from 10/5/09 until 10/15/09. I think it was a young bird. All the other hummers had left around the last week of September. The latest I have ever seem a hummer around here is October 5TH. This surprised me as we had two hard freezes and all their flowers were dead. She came to the feeders a lot as the weather was in the 40's and nights were in the 27-30 degree range with rain on and off. One day she was coming when it was snowing. She finally left sometime after the 15Th as I have not seen her or any other hummer since. I still have my feeders out so that if more come through they will have something to eat.
