Hummingbird Sighting

Date: 10/21/2009

Number: 1

Altus was out early this morning, cleaned the humingbird feeders and refilled them. She sat there (windy, no skeeters!) and watched Ruby-throated hummingbirds at the feeders, at all the flowers in the yard, and sitting on bare twigs around the perimeter of the yard. Her best count was that ten RT's were trying to use the feeders. The TPWD birdbander near Victoria released his report for the 11th and final week on hummingbirds on Sunday. This past week they mist-netted for eight hours and banded 108 first timers or 13.5 per hour.
