Pasture mowing today allowed me to observe some changes and sightings. First, the leaves are at about peak here. Some nocturnal animal has been digging little holes all around, I don't know if it is skunk, opossum, or raccoons that are looking for grubs and worms, or possibly even feral pigs. No tracks seen. Spotted the first "ladybug" in preparation of the annual fall migration, getting ready to find it's way into houses for the winter. These aren't true lady bugs, but a version of them, I think Japanese(?). They swarm in waves, much like lovebugs do in the southern states beneath us. They will become more frequently seen during the warmer days. The early freeze may have slowed them down, however. Low humidity for last two days, a half moon tonight, ring around the moon....possible frost tonight.
