Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/22/2009

Number: 1

We started a new science unit called "Tulips." Mrs. Gaines took some funny looking things out of a box.  They looked a little bit like garlic.  She told us that they were tulip bulbs.  She also told us that we would be planting them. We got our own bulbs the first day.  We measured their circumferences and weighed  them the second day.  It was October 22nd when we went outside and started to get them in the ground.  It turned out to be the only dry day that week. The digging was quite easy. It was cool, but just right for hard work!
We all stood in a line in alphabetical order.  I really liked the way we went in alphabetical order because we went from the end to the beginning, since my name starts with an N so I did not have to wait a long time.  Yah!! (Finally I am close to being first.)
When we got called over to put in our tulip bulb, we took a shovel and dug until it was 7 inches deep.  The bulbs had to be about 4 inches away from all of the others in a zig zag form.
