Signs of Fall

Date: 10/30/2009

Number: 1

Today it was 63 degrees F with slight breeze. The sky was covered with a blanket of stratus clouds. Today we saw more yellow, gold, orange, and red colors than we saw green! That is a sign of fall! The beech leaves and the tulip poplar leaves are turning yellow and so are the leaves on the hearts-a-bursting. The hickories are golden orange. We saw a dogwood that was a beautiful red sight! The trail has more leaves on the ground than the last time we observed. As we were walking, we saw more leaves fall from the trees. The beauty berries are starting to dry up and the color is fading. We saw fungus on a dead log. We heard a woodpecker, crickets, and a crow.
