On Wed and Thur Oct 28 and 29 we observed hundreds of butterflies all going west bound past our vacation home in Destin , Florida. They were flying down our street between homes about 50 yards from the Gulf of Mexico beach. My observation time: I was watching for 2 hours each of the two days.

These were taken at Destin yesterday Nov 1 as a few stragglers stopped by some of our flowers. I'm not sure of the specie now that you mention a look alike...the butterflies earlier in the week did seem darker but they were in continuous migration and difficult to photograph while these stopped by to enjoy the flowers.
