Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/12/2009

Number: 1

Staten Island, N.Y. City shore sites, late afternoon Oct.12:

Monarch (365+, almost all at asters & seaside goldenrods)

Good to see even that number of Monarchs although these same areas have produced 5 or ten times that many on peak days at this time of year, with an all-time peak (in my own experience) of nearly 30 times that number at one location in one day in late fall - that in a year that was far better than this for the Monarchs.
