Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 11/08/2009

Number: 1

We were given a Monarch Butterfly in late October, right after he had emerged from his chrysalis. We were advised to keep the butterfly, whose life span would be similar to that of a butterfly returning north, after wintering in Mexico. After a week the weather became so warm we decided to let him fly away. What an exciting event to watch him fly off into the Connecticut woodlands. While watching him fly into the sunny sky we decided we made a good choice by giving him a chance to feel the fresh air and truly spread his wings. We hope he makes it to Mexico! - Mrs. Domoff and her 3rd Graders from John Pettibone School, New Milford, CT
