I believe this male Costa's was hatched this year. He has been hanging out in my back yard for a little over a month now and has changed from drab dusty color into brilliant green with purple/black head and bright purple feathers that stick out from his neck. Have not seen any others for over a week now, but he is still hanging around my feeders and perching in my Butterfly Tree.
