Have one caterpillar who crawled onto my backyard fence off the milkweed and became a chrysalis about two weeks ago. Is still in the chrysalis stage and I took it off the fence last night and brought it inside and attached it to a milkweed plant we brought in so the milkweed would not freeze as we are expecting freezing temperatures (in the low 30s) tonight and this morning. Will let it stay inside until the temperatures warm up a bit. Last had emerging new butterflies inside and outside approximately 2.5 weeks ago. Were doing the "shivering" behaviour before flying away and they stayed on the milkweeds after emerging and flying away for much longer than previous butterflies due to cooler temperatures.
