Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/22/2010

Number: 1

This is actually the same sighting I noted on Jan 6. I am posting to note that they are still here, 16 days later. There are thousands and thousands of American Robins sleeping in the trees and tall brush surrounding my house, which is on 20 acres in the woods. In 27 years, have never seen this. They are not around by day, do not eat food from the bird feeders, but pack the trees around the house at night. They fly in from all directions between 4:30 and 5:30, in waves of 20 to 150. They settle on the trees that surround my house. I go out to walk the dogs at night, and they talk and then fly away a bit all together flapping their wings and making a very loud flapping noise. My Great Dane could care less, but they have very much scared my other 60 pound rottweiler/mutt dog. She is afraid to go out at night. It's absolutely amazing to watch them all fly in before dark. Peak arrival is right before and right after 5 PM.
