The tulips have broken ground here at Stony Brook University. Their tips are 3 to 4 inches above ground. It's snowing right now, but not accumulating. We are expecting an Arctic cold blast this weekend, with wind chills below zero. The tender tops will be completely exposed to the forecasted brutal cold.
