Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/27/2010

Number: 1

Several days of intense cold. zero degrees and below in the evening. A flock of 15-20 birds appeared outside my office. We have 2 crab apple trees that are loaded with rotting fruit and the robins were obviously here for the food. Are they in their migration north at such an early date? They have been seen earlier than normal over the past few years but never before March or April, when the snow starts to recede and bare ground begins to appear. Right now everything is frozen solid and mostly covered with snow. They are still showing up every day to feed.
