This year there weren't as many monarchs in the fall, and none of them stayed. In fact, I had several other butterflies visiting the butterfly bush after I had seen the last monarch! And then we got teens temperatures in January for three or four days in a row---even along the coast. I haven't seen any monarchs for two months now. My milkweed was killed by that cold snap. I'm hoping they re-sprout from roots.
