Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/08/2010

Number: 1

I have been observing a flock of at least 50, probably closer to about 100, American robins feeding on a large Cherry Laurel tree in my back yard. They are also feasting on Brazilian Pepper Tree berries. There are also many redwinged blackbirds flocking, calling and putting on their mating colors in my area right now. The air is filled with bird calls, a chorus that is almost a cacophony, at all daylight hours when it is not raining. This began 2/8/10 and is continuing today, 2/9/10.
