I spent five hours searching the Hinckley and Kayuta lake area for my first bald eagle sighting. Bald eagles have frequent this area lately. I found a carcass that crows and ravens were feeding on in a field in Gravesville. Gravesville is in the town of Russia, Herkimer County. I saw and heard evidence of bald eagles there. I marked that as a potential spot. Finally, after hours of scouting and waiting the eagles came out. I got to see my first adult eagle were that carcass was.
