This afternoon, I counted 14 Robins perched in the upper branches of some maple trees in my yard. This is the earliest Robin sighting I have ever witnessed in 25 years of living in the Boston area. Usually, I do not see robins until late March or April. I was very surprised to see so many of them at once, for any season, especially at the end of February. These robins were also significantly more plump or thickly feathered than I usual. I wonder if perhaps they did not migrate southward this winter.
