Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 02/28/2010

Number: 1

I live in Highland Lakes on Crystal Lake. Crystal Lake has a peninsula with twn willows, two large tall evergreens (20 to 30' high) and a cottonwood on east side of the lake. The eastern shoreline has a protected area of water reeds for nesting.

The Red Wing Blackbirds perch high in the willows in the morning and their song can be heard.

This morning, I saw one lone Red Wing Blackbird in a small maple on the eartern bluff above the lahe and 5 or sx in the tallest willow.
