There were 850 monarchs at the sanctuary this week! About 265 were in the pine tree behind the sanctuary and the rest were scattered in the eucs near that pine tree. So it looks like if they briefly left, they may not have gone far in the last couple weeks. It is possible they were scattered high on the back sides of those eucs where we could not see them from the sanctuary or the road nearby. Plasket Creek has several dense and growing clusters in the same three pine trees at the campground. At the private property site in Big Sur, the monarchs have moved from around 6-10 clusters to three very large, very dense clusters. The Andrew Molera monarchs are still scattered high in the crowns of the euc stand.
