On the 2/2, monarchs at the Pacific Grove Sanctuary were scattered high in the eucalyptus trees from the entrance to the bottom of the slope. The 2/9 survey of the Sanctuary was done following some very stormy weather so only a few monarchs were found in the euc and cypress next to the inn. Andrew Molera State Park still has a few fliers and loners scattered throughout the grove. The private property site in Big Sur is holding steady at around 2,000 monarchs, mostly in the cypress between some buildings and the highway. The monarchs are slowly leaving Plaskett Creek campground. The few remaining butterflies were clustered high in the pine and cypress trees between the highway and the campsites.
