the sun is shining and the snow is melting - and it feels like spring is on the way. Tapped 2 trees today (6 taps) and the sap ran immediately. the chickadees have been singing their spring song since Wednesday feb.17. there is almost no snow in the bush and it has been a very easy winter. sap season may be short! (february 28 - finished tapping the bush behind the house today- this year I am only using half of the sugar bush so the trees get a chance to rest. there are 40 taps in this spring. sap is running today- temp is +3 with sun/cloud. we had 15cm of very wet snow on thursday and Friday but the ground is very waterlogged and 'squishy'. tomorrow I will go and start tapping the trees at Sacred Heart School in Marmora)
