On the first day of every month, I walk out into the garden to record what's in bloom. Today's photos:
One viburnum, one winter-flowering cherry, one flowering quince, one forsythia, one primrose, two purple plums, two crocus patches, half a dozen camellias, and a dozen clumps of daffodils.
As to birds flitting through the foliage we have, right now, Anna's hummingbirds, Bewick's wrens, bushtits, song sparrows, spotted towhees, white-crowned sparrows, dark-eyed juncos, house sparrows, black-capped and chestnut-backed chickadees, red-breasted nuthatches, robins, Steller's jays, crows. rock doves, and one sharp-shinned hawk (who would not let me take his photo).
Great blue herons are nesting near the Bay, on the other side of the hill.
