Stepped out into my backyard and found a Monarch caterpillar sitting in the sun on top of a waste basket turnined up side down. Even though my milkweed is just barely returing, I set the caterpillar on one of the leaves and brought it to the porch for protection. I had an adult in my yard recently but never guessed it would lay an egg that would survive our cold down here.
