We put part of our A. curassavica in the shop so it would be protected from the hard freezes of early January. With all the cool and wet weather it is putting on leaves but not so very quickly. Altus and I have found two native milkweeds along county roads in the county the past ten pays and it looks good but is also late. We found Asclepias oenotherpodes (Hierba de Zizotes) ten days in several squattered placed in the southern half of the Calhoun County. Today we drove six miles southwest of Port Lavaca and fould A. viridis (Spider or Green Antelopehorns) in the ditches. Altus got out and found some with stems to 3". Now all that is needed is sunshine and some monarchs in a few days. Buy curassavice from nurseries when they get it! Plants may be hard to get early and that's when you will need curassavica! We have seen no Monarchs yet ...
