All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/10/2010

Number: 1

The American Woodcock was back tonight. The yard is still snow-covered, but there are open patches. I heard the peent call about 6:40PM and heard the wings in the courtship flight thru the yard. Didn't last long tonight, but it should be better as the ground becomes open. 60+ degree temps helps to melt the snow slowly without flooding. Also saw our first of the season, Turkey Vulture on 03/09/10. Another sign of spring in Western PA.
