Robin (First SEEN)

Date: 03/13/2010

Number: 1

Finally, I've spotted my first Robin this year! A fleeting view of the orange breast in the maple tree just outside my dining room window at around noon alerted me to this welcome sign of spring. I also saw my first squawking, scavaging Seagull scouting for supper today as well. They stay close to the St. Lawrence through the winter and early spring, venturing outwards from the river as the weather warms. There is barely any snow left in my yard and my large natural pond is almost free of ice. Now I'll be watching for the frogs and painted turtles.
