We have our hummingbird feeder right outside our window and see most all the feeding activity for the first 3-4 hours of the morning. We were actually outside around 12:30 in the afternoon when we saw the first Rufous (it was an exceptionally nice day). It's the sound of their wingbeats that catch our attention first and this was no different.
It was a very healthy and robust looking male. Vibrant Orange and the light was right to see the glowing red on his head when he turned. He drank briefly and then headed off to the NorthEast but we couldn't see how far he went due to some trees.
