Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 03/18/2010

Number: 1

At 6:00 pm we had a mature, male Ruby-throated HB show up in the back yard. My grandson and I watched him nectar on blue pincushion flowers for about five minutes. We had three empty feeders on the deck ready to be filled the next day or two ... now that needs to be done tomorrow! With the killing freezes in January and February, there aren't very many nectar sources right now here in backyards so we'd better help as much as we can.
