We planted our tulips in four corners of a large rectangular space. They are now 2 inches high and are just emerging from the ground. We noticed that the tulips planted on the southeast side of the space are emerging more quickly. We ordered 100 bulbs, putting 25 in each corner. The southeastern corners have 45 emerging tulips (total) and the northwestern corners only have 32 emerging tulips (total). Our conclusion is that the sun shone more on the southeastern side and coaxed the tulips out of the ground more quickly.
