First FEMALE rufous of this spring at one of my d=feeders this afternoon, at about a quarter to five. I was able to get a few photos, even though the afternoon was very dark.
It looks like she may be sticking around because she is sampling the nectar from different feeders (which I had cleaned and refilled only an hour ago).
The male rufous who visited on the 15th, has not been back--or at least I have not seen him. (It has been a hectic week.)
(Later that day)The female has been sticking around for the last couple of hours -- and a few minutes ago a male showed up (I took photos, but it's even darker now....). The Anna's are strangely unperturbed (last year, they seemed very upset when the rufous hummers arrived).
