Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/22/2010

Number: 1

We planted our bulbs in pots because it was too muddy to plant in the outdoor garden soil. We observed that our tulip leaves were yellow when we took them out of our chilling closet. We set them on a cart in the classroom so they could receive sunlight. The leaves are tall and wrap around the tulip blossoms. The leaves are crooked because of a lack of sunlight in the closet. The leaves are curled. The soil is dry so we probably need to water our plants. The soil is dry, but the leaves are moist with water dripping from the tips of the leaves. Every student had at least one plant growing in their pots. The bulbs are coming out of the soil, but the roots are holding the plants in the soil. The plants are cold. The brown skin surrounding the bulb peeled away from the plant and is soft on the inside. We grew 36 plants from 50 bulbs.
