Tulips EMERGED

Date: 03/11/2010

Number: 1

After one of our snowiest winters ever on record, spring arrived quickly. Temperatures soared to high 70 degrees one week and our tulips emerged. Our tulip garden is in our school yard (recess location) and the students see on weekdays. Our tulip garden was covered with hardware wire and survived winter vandalism from unknown people on our school yard after hours. On the day of our observation, the tulip was stem and leaves. It was a lighter green color (since newly emerged??) and the leaves had little black spots. The plant was about 4 inches tall. It had no flower or bud yet.
