Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/22/2010

Number: 1

We've had about 6-8 male RWBBs that had flown into our backyard to feed with a flock of about 12-15 male Cowbirds! The Cowbirds have moved on and a few of the RWBBs have stayed since. I hope they stick around awhile before moving on to the corn fields and marshes here. I love their calls and beautiful wings! :)
BTW, they arrived a few weeks later than last year and I'm sure it was due to the constant snow and cold we had here for so long. Spring is here at last...WooHoo!
