All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 04/01/2010

Number: 1

woke up this a.m. to the most welcome song of spring - THE PHOEBES ARE BACK!!! I heard one singing at the back of the house near my bedroom window and then there was another at the front - hope they both stay. no frost last night - low of +4C and it is supposed to be up to +15 today. taking the taps out of the trees this afternoon here and at the school... saying goodbye to an up and down season for the maple syrup - not enough cold nights to bring the sap up, but we did get enough for the year... almost finished next year's firewood because the weather has been so warm. tiger lilies are up and the bloodroot by the south side of the house is already blooming. the weekend is predicted to be sun/clouds and very warm. maybe the vultures will be back - haven't seen the great blue heron yet. froggies singing for the first time last night... must be spring
