The spouse of a museum volunteer reports: "a monarch flittered clearly right past me and settled for a few seconds on a branch on the locust tree, before flittering away" at his home yard in Williamsburg Va while taking a break from working in the garden. I was skeptical of this at first [April fools!] but subsequent sightings have made me more accepting. The weather has warmed up so much that milkweeds have just emerged, weeks before they normally do.
