Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/01/2010

Number: 1

Today at 12 noon I was delighted to see 3 faded monarchs laying eggs on milkweed plants in our pastures. It is a very warm (80 degrees F) sunny day. The native milkweed (Asclepius viridis) is now becoming abundant, seemingly popping up overnight. I short time later I watched a monarch nectaring on false garlic flowers. She went from one to the next tipping the small blossoms downwards with her slight weight as she sipped.
