Hummingbird, Ruby-throated (FIRST)

Date: 03/18/2010

Number: 1

Saw first beautiful fluorescense of reddish/orange throat at one of my nine feeders yesterday. Have had a rufous since March 19th and pretty sure there is at least a third little beauty, but haven't seen all 3 feed at same time (only 2).
Also observed what appeared to be a male mating dance...repeated almost symmetric pendulum-type flight back and forth in one place...looked into tree limbs in front of him, but couldn't see another bird.
They are getting comfortable with me on the porch with them again.
