I saw the first one of the season this morning, here in KC. My zip is
64114 and I send in tags when the season is good. This was a new one,
bit on the small size and I did not have the opportunity to determine
if it was
male or
female. It was seeking something to eat but apparently didn't find
anything to it's particular liking so it headed off to the north. My
milkweed is
just
starting to grow and is only about a couple of inches high.

The interesting thing about it was that it left headed between the
houses in
exactly the opposite path that the fall ones use while heading to Mexico.
