We were staying in a hotel in Ocean City MD, right on the ocean. I could not believe what I saw. I had to go out in the dunes and get a better look. The weather in the past two weeks has been unseasonably warm. But in my own garden about 50 miles north I don't ever see a monarch this early.

I also have raised Monarchs. Yes, this was a monarch. I got a very good close look. The butterfly was still cold and was sitting on grass next to the warmer sand.
