Karen and Steve McCurdy were visiting their son in Savannah, GA on this date, and went hiking at Skidaway Island State Park, Savannah, GA 31411. Near the education building, Steve saw a female monarch fluttering with great difficulty. Her colors were very strong and wings were intact, so I doubt she had traveled very far. He was puzzled by how she got there on a reasonably warm winter day. Karen & Steve are members of the Butterfly Society of Virginia and live in Virginia Beach, VA
