Robin (OTHER Observations)

Date: 04/18/2010

Number: 1

No robins yet here at the Head of Kachemak Bay outside Homer, Alaska. In fact, we still have 100% snow cover (about 3 feet) except for under the spruce trees and on the roads. However, the temperatures are creeping up a little higher almost every day (into the 40's now), and our daylight stretches from 6:30 am til 9:30 pm. The willows and other trees are turning reddish with the new sap rising from their roots, and they will be ready to sprout their buds within very short notice. The early migrants should be showing up soon, and we are hoping to see and hear our first robin by May 6th. Wish us luck!
