Barn Swallow (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/20/2010

Number: 1

When I bought this house in Aug 08, I noticed a mud-based nest in the corner eave (interior) of my front porch. I decided not to knock it down and see if it became occupied. Last April and then again just the other day, I noticed a pair of birds had taken up residence...white body, black wings and head and a red throat band. Last year they appeared to have hatched three or four young. I believe they are barn swallows, but unable to confirm thru research. Want to find out what I can do to insure their safety and continued return.
