This is the first pair. Didn't come into the barn yet but were outside on the wire making lots of noise. I've been keeping track of the arrival dates for the past few years and it seems that it's always April 21 or 22. This is an older farm and has been home to barn swallows for over 70 years. There aren't as many pairs as when the dairy cows were here (until 1983) but there are usually between 6 and 12 pairs in a year, usually with two broods each - if they arrive early enough.
