All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 04/21/2010

Number: 1

On bluff 150 ft above Black Bass point caught a fleeting glance of yellow and black butteryfly, probably a tiger while we were cleaning up trash on Earth Day from the spring flood. Also found mt leatherback turtle shells from last fall's hatch and viewed nine leatherbacks about 8-10 in length sunning on pile of rocks. River is down about 8 ft from April crest, still about halfway to summer normal. Out pool is controlled by the Missippi Dam #4 above Red Wing and is scene of daily dramatic changes, such as the crab apples blossming on Earth Day.
