Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/28/2010

Number: 1

Yippee, yahoo ....... spotted my first fresh g1 of 2010. Bear Creek Road Co RD 352 and FM1826 approx. 15 miles southwest of Austin. Flying fast and low in northerly direction 8-10 feet off the ground. Unable to see sexual markings. He or she was off to fresh milkweed up to the north.

On a more somber note, I have checked hundreds (close to a thousand!!!) milkweed, primarily Antelope Horns, over the past month in south, central and north Austin, and I have not seen a single egg, cat, chrysalis, or evidence of chewing!!!!!

Time to pass the monarch monitoring along to you lucky folks further north.
